Treasures

J's grandmother is an independent woman, still living on her own at 86. Today we visited her and J suggested he have a look in the ceiling of the home she's been on for 50 years to see if he could give it a tidy up.

From the top of the ladder we called out "anything up there?"

J replied "about 10 suitcases and a few boxes!"

He wasn't wrong! The majority of the cases were empty but we did come across a few treasures:

* Two beautiful old paint tins. I love how the pallets are labelled with the colour name;

* A small collection of match boxes. I particularly love the "Digging for Yams" matchbox. It's typical of an era!;

*A very old suitcase among some quite old suitcases and some old suitcases and some suitcases;

* A handful of 'Forum' magazines- polticial journals dating back to the 60's;

* Enamel cufflinks;

* A rusty old lamp and some old tools including a Mercedes Benz tyre pressure guage;

* A motorcycling outfit (in not-so-bad-nick) and;

* A boxful of correspondence from an old boyfriend of J's aunty which brought back some memories for her!

It was an interesting afternoon. After 50 years in the one home I am not surprised by the amount of 'stuff' that one has accumulated... a dust!
